GetCheckedOnline is British Columbia (BC)’s digital testing service for sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections operated by the BC Centre for Disease Control and the BC Public Health Laboratory.
GetCheckedOnline launched in Vancouver, BC in 2014, and is now available in nine communities across the province serving over 22,000 people per year. GetCheckedOnline’s objectives are to increase testing, diagnose infections earlier, reach populations with higher rates of infections facing barriers to getting tested, and improve the health system’s ability to provide STBBI testing in BC.
This report summarizes what we learned over the past 10 years about the population, public health and health system impacts of GetCheckedOnline. Our goal is to produce a resource for leaders and decision-makers in BC and other jurisdictions who are considering or involved in implementing similar digital testing services for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections.
