Community STI Testing Survey: Findings

We conducted the Community STI Testing Survey to understand people’s experiences with testing services for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). More specifically, we wanted to understand how many people were aware of or had used GetCheckedOnline, a free, online STI testing service operated by the British Columbia (BC) Centre for Disease Control in partnership with regional health authorities.

The survey was open to sexually active people 16 years-old or older who were residents of BC. We specifically wanted to hear from people who lived, worked, or regularly visited Greater Victoria, Maple Ridge, Kamloops, Nelson, and Kimberley (including Cranbrook), where GetCheckedOnline is available outside of the City of Vancouver. The survey was conducted between June 24 and September 30, 2022.
